Indian Automobile King, Maruti Suzuki sets its eyes on the growing crossover segment/ mini-SUV cars. Observing the huge success of Renault Duster and Ford Figo, Maruti Suzuki has also decided to come up with something to compete with these rivals.

Not very soon, however, Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch its first crossover in India in 2015 in the name of Maruti Suzuki S-Cross. The company is also working on its premium sedan named Ciaz. Besides this, the automobile major is expected to launch another five new models in a span of the next 24 month.

Maruti Suzuki displayed the S-Cross in 2014 Auto Expo held in Delhi. It is a seat five seater car which comes with spacious cabin, good leg room for every individual. Inside the engine bay it is powered by a 1.6 litre petrol engine which delivers 120 PS of power with 156 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The diesel engine is a 1.6-litre, which delivers 120PS of power and 320Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission gearbox. 

Maruti S-Cross is expected to be launched under a price tag of Rs 10 lakh. If rumours are true, it will be offered only in petrol option in India initially but the truth will be revealed with its final launch. Along with that, at International level it will be equipped with an optional four-wheel-drive system, along with a four driving modes. These options may get introduced on a later stage in India.
