In order to stay on the top in the luxury car market, BMW introduced its first hybrid model in India 'The BMW ActiveHybrid 7'. It's top end luxury, 7 series sedan with matchless comfort and driving experience. During the launch, BMW India President Philipp von Sahr told that Active Hybrid 7 will be available in India for Rs 1.35 crore (ex-showroom Delhi) and the sale starts accross the country from coming Wednesday.

The company claims that the new BMW Active hybrid 7 is a perfect blend of ultra premium luxury and an intelligent engine. The gorgeous looks definitely makes it a new sexy on the road, and the new hybrid system engine gives a matchless experience. This Active hybrid beauty comes with an electric propulsion motor powered by a inline 3 litre 6-cylinder petrol engine with two turbochargers. Its 40KW motor develops 354 horsepower and 450 NM of torque. This engine is mated to a ZF eight-speed Steptronic gearbox which can accelerate the rear wheels from 0-100 kmph in 5.7 seconds.

The electric motor's extra contribution of 210Nm of torque can help the engine cover 4km on pure battery power at a speed of 60 kmph. On the top of it the powerful 120 Volt Li-Ion battery is capable of running the air conditioning system even if the engine is turned off. This overall hybrid system saves almost 14 % of fuel consumption as compared to the non-hybrid models. Inside the cabin it gets key-less entry and ignition, automatic climate control, leather interior, inbuilt 10-speaker sound system with satellite radio, rear view camera with parking sensors. Like the
new Jaguar XJ, the BMW Active hybrid also gets folding tables integrated in the rear front seats and massage.
The company is also looking forward to expand its network with the addition of new BMW dealerships in the country along with the introduction of few in-line models like M3 sedan, M4 Coupe and the M5 sedan and i8 in 2014.
