We are the luckiest generation to see the biggest changes in the field of technology. Starting from landline phones, switching to mobile phones and then basic mobile phones to the era of  smartphones. Smartphones came up with practically useful apps and then digging deep inside in technology, smart-wearable are the next biggest thing in terms of gadgets. LG, Motorola, Samsung are already running big projects on smart wearables and recently even Spice telecom launched a smart watch.   Smart wearables do not only include smart watches but also smart bands which fulfil the purpose of a fitness tracker.

Stepping into the town of smart wearables, Sony has launched its new SmartBand SWR10 which comes bundled for free with the Xperia Z2. It is basically an activity tracker for fitness freaks, and it doubles up as a notification tool and media controller for your smartphone.  The Sony SmartBand SWR10 band can work with any Android device running 4.4 KitKat and supports Bluetooth LE and NFC. Sony has also ensured to keep it into the reach of everyone with an affordable price of Rs 5,990.
Sony Smartband does not look like a high end gadget but it appears like a simple and elegant band on your wrist. The clamp has a shiny metal finish with the Sony logo and it tightly secures the band in place. The belt can be adjusted to different sizes. This bracelet like strap is built with silicone rubber and is highly flexible.  It weighs only 20grams and along with its batter, rubber and the ‘core’ - a chip with all the sensors and three LED indicators. There is a micro-USB port on the side for charging and a single button for operations.  The belt is adjustable to the size of owner’s wrist and is water resistant up to 5-feet for up to 30 minutes.

Smartband lets you set the day or night modes, depending upon what time you sleep. It can also be changed manually by long pressing the button on the core. To check the mode at any time, users can also press the button once, if the three LEDs blink in succession then its day mode, and if alternately then it’s in night mode. Its user interface lets you go back to check what you were doing at any particular moment which is very useful in tracking you sleeping pattern, and improving your wake-up times.

Though it works with your phone, however; it can also work as a standalone health tracker. For eg.  If you forget your phone at home while going to gym, it will track your activities automatically and sync with your phone when you return home. The bookmark option allows users to bookmark a location, date and time by double pressing the button. It comes with a small rechargeable battery which more than three days.

SmartBand SWR10 is a smart choice for those who are looking forward to improve their daily activity pattern along with other smart functions.
