Audi, the German automobile giant, has launched its much awaited smallest luxury sedan - Audi A3, in 2014 Auto Expo. This launch happened much before than expected as it was speculated in the month of August. New Audi A3 will be 4,460 mm long, 1,800 mm wide, and a wheelbase of 2,640 mm. A3 petrol variant could come packed with the low displacement 1.4 litre TSFI engine. A six-speed manual and a seven-speed S-Tronicautomatic gearbox is expected to give an mileage of 18-20 kmpl. It also features Xenon headlamps with daytime running LED, MMI navigation system with bluetooth connectivity and an ample storage space in its trunk.

The Audi A3 and upcoming Audi Salon, are definitely new sexy in this segment and is expected to compete with the Mercedes A-class and B-class and BMW's 1-series. To make these new models available at competitive price, the company has decided to go for local production, may be at Škoda Auto India Private Limited manufacturing facilities in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. In 2013, 92 percent of cars delivered by Audi in India were produced at its Aurangabad manufacturing unit. Audi A3 is expected to be price tagged between 20-25 lakhs depending on its variant. Another upcoming model, Audi Salon is expected to be price tagged between Rs 25 lakhs to Rs 29 lakhs.
