Google-owned Japanese Robotics Company, Schaft, is getting ready to sell Humanoid Robot.  This bio-inspired HRP-2 robot’s body is built to resemble that of the human body, they have a torso (Body excluding the head and neck and limbs), a head, two arms, two legs, and some forms of humanoid robots may have only upper part of the body in future. These movable parts use liquid-cooled motors to power the strong movement and grips.

The HRP-2 Robot swept away the rivals from MIT, NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Carnegie Mellon University in a series of tests during  DARPA Robotics Challenge.  It could easily move shaft, shift debris blocking a doorway, climb ladder and open doors with its high-torque arms and legs. The winning robot had a prize of $2 million keeping in view, how useful it can be during disaster management and further development of its technology.  The eyes popping part of this challenge came when the team Schaft elected to withdraw from the finals.  Taking this difficult decision Google said, they are extremely happy about the performance of their Robot and they are going to focus further on the development of their first commercial product.
Google's Robot In DARPA Robotics Challenge
Google believes that the potential market for a human-shaped robot is enormous. In future, these Humanoid Robots may work as domestic help, factory labour, car driver and mainly used during dangerous situations like fire in a building. Considering all these factors Google trusted ‘Schaft’ and acquired it well in time on December 2, 2013 (according to Wikipedia).

Google is the one visionary company which is desperate to grow. Since Feb 12, 2001 Google has acquired almost 159 companies so far. From search engine to smartphones, Eye Glasses to Cars and now human voice recognition to robots! What are they upto? The only factor which makes me worried about these powerful robots is that, someday they will become more intelligent than humans and fight for power like the way it happened in the movie iRobot.
