A girl getting sexually abused under the influence of some intoxicant is a universal problem nowadays.  And technically, the numbers of such cases are not less; if the facts are believed then 1 out of 4 girls do get sexually assaulted once in a lifetime under this situation. Taking alcoholic drinks is equally common in women and men in clubs.  It is not uncommon that either your own friend/ some guy in your group or for that matter a stranger who you just met, intoxicates you by mixing a chemical in your drink to make you an easy prey of his wrong intentions. Definitely, you can’t trust anyone in these situations, and the only way to stay safe is to test your drink for any intoxicant before consumption.  Is it possible? Let’s find it out.
Pd.id Gadget
A team of few concerned Canadians gave a serious thought to this issue and after three years of hard work, came up with a small gadget called ‘ pd.id ’ or ‘Personal Drink ID’. This gadget is as small as your ‘Wrigley’s chewing gum’ pack, so it can easily fit anywhere in your purse or coin pocket. All you have to do is to dip its sensor into your drink and within few seconds it will detect even small traces of the most common date rape drugs like roofies, ketamine, benzodiazepines and rohypnol. Blinking red or green color LED’s will let you know if your drink is safe or not. The gadget is not only limited to these drugs but the developers claim that they will constantly be updating the database for new drugs.
Testing Drink- Pd.id
This battery-operated ‘Personal Drink ID’ can be used for up to 35-40 times before its inbuilt lithium ion battery needs a recharge. On the top of it, this gadget can also sync with a smartphone app, which can text or call you if your drink contains any unsafe foreign substance according to its database.

‘pd.id’ or ‘Personal Drink ID’ is a brain child of David Wilson. According to him, taking care of health is as important as avoiding these sexual assault circumstances. So, pd.id is a perfect device to warn guys before even they can think of drugging you.

Like Frebble, Coolest Cooler and Earin Earbuds are raising their funds through Kickstarter, the Toronto-based team of pd.id developers have a goal of raising $100,000 through crowdfunding on Indiegogo by the end of August. After that the company will sell a unit of pd.id for $75 (4,520 INR). The shipping may start next year in the month of April 2015.
