Destruction is the only stable change in the underworld. Dominating, avenging and unstable nature of human beings evolve destructive minds who want to kill the peace in this world. Killing people with explosive bomb is not only a war thing anymore. Rigorous training and easily available information in the internet has already solved the problem of making explosives by criminal masterminds.  One the other side, our defence department did not upgrade itself at a pace on which opposition is running. So far, for more than half a century, sniffer dogs and metal detectors had been the most reliable method of detecting explosives at various sites. And except few other explosive detection methods, God is the only hope to avoid any mishap.
Sniffer Dog
Recently, a team of mechanical engineers from UC Berkeley have found a method to increase the sensitivity of a light-based plasmon sensor to detect the airborne chemicals even in minute concentrations.  The team leader and a mechanical engineering Professor at the University- Xiang Zhang tested the new plasmon sensor with various kinds of explosives. The tests have been really successful with great accuracy.
Plasmon Sensor Functioning
According to the project engineers, the nitro-compounds present in explosives like DNT and TNT, not only make the chemicals more explosive but fatal because they are also electron deficient. This new sensor device is capable of detecting the increased intensity in the light signals occurring due to molecular interaction. So, even a small puff of air is noticeable by this Optical explosive sensors chip.

This is major achievement in the world of security devices. Once the project is complete, these sensors could be installed in various modes of transport, security handheld devices at airports and other important sites like country borders for detecting land mines. This can save not only lot of human lives but also trained sniffer dogs as well.
