Almost everyone who uses internet, and living in India and Brazil have an account on Orkut. So, I thought that Google shutting down Orkut will be the news of the week but, the news of Sony selling VAIO brand to a Japanese private equity firm ‘Japan Industrial Partners’, stole the title of a bigger news.
VAIO PRO AND VAIO FIT
Competing with bigger sharks like Apple, Dell and Hewitt Packard; Sony Corporation had decided to come out of its struggling PC business in February and focus on gaming, mobile and tablets. According to the sources, Sony reported an annual loss of over a billion dollars in its most recent financial results, based on losses it decided to amputate its VAIO (VAIO (Video Audio Integrated Operation) arm.

On the other side, newly funded ‘VAIO Corporation’ which claims itself as "small" PC maker company as compared Sony's horizon, will be focussing completely on VAIO brand and work independently.  According to the sources, the new ‘VAIO Corporation’ has just 240 employees but they strongly believe that the things are going to change.

VAIO Corporation showed off its VAIO Fit and VAIO Pro computers in Tokyo, which are ready for sale in Japan. The VAIO Corp also announced about its sales agency agreement with Sony Marketing as Sony understands the Japanese market much better. Sony has taken a 5 per cent investment in the newly founded computer company.

The new VAIO Fit comes with an Intel Core i7 4500U processor, up to 8GB of DDR3L SDRAM and an Intel HD Graphics 4400 chip. The hybrid design makes it detachable from laptop to tablet. Whereas, VAIO Pro boasts a fourth-generation Intel Haswell chip beneath an 11.6 or 13.3in HD 1080p touch screen.

Looking at the confidence level of new VAIO Corporation, it seems that they must have got some really good strategy. Let’s see how smoothly their stratigies drive VAIO in near future.
